Profession: British Admiral
Biography: Best known for his service in the American Revolutionary War where he fought in the Battle of the Chesapeake alongside Admiral Thomas Graves.
He was later Commander-in-Chief of the Mediterranean Fleet during the French Revolutionary Wars.
A mentor to the young Horatio Nelson, Hood was made First Sea Lord, head of the Royal Navy, in 1795.
