Biography: Powerful R&B and rock singer with an energetic stage approach had a 50 year career as the "Queen of Rock and Roll", winning 8 Grammy Awards.

Anna Mae Bullock joined Ike Turner & his Rhythm Kings as a teenager, and quickly became the star of the show. Rechristened as "The Ike & Tina Turner Revue", they toured constantly and recorded sporadically.  Tapped to open for the Rolling Stones' 1966 UK and 1969 US tours, their reputation spread.
After several hit records, including "River Deep - Mountain High" and a cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Proud Mary", Turner left both the act and her marriage with the abusive Ike in 1976.

Slowly rebuilding her career, the resilient singer's 1984 album "Private Dancer" was a worldwide hit garnering several Grammy Awards.

She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice - with Ike in 1991, and as a solo artist in 2021.  She received Kennedy Center Honors in 2005, and a lifetime Grammy in 2018.

Her story has been told in the 1993 film "What's Love Got To Do With It", starring Angela Bassett and Laurence Fishburne, and the stage production "Tina: The Tina Turner Musical" which opened in London in 2018, and on Broadway in 2019.
